Our Story
We purchased the business in 2010, when the shop held only around 1,000 costumes for hire or sale. Over time, we expanded our costume range and eventually took over the neighboring premises to double our shop’s floor space. Today, we stock approximately 4,500 costumes—and we’re always adding more to keep up with trends, events and demand.
Our specialty is the personal service Madcaps gives to all the people who come through our doors. Whether just a hat or ten costumes are hired all are important. If we don’t have the exact costume, which does happen of course, we will do our best to find something similar or often completely different!
Lately the customer base for Madcaps is broadening. Visitors are coming from Athlone to Atlantis and everywhere in between. Even from Hermanus and Franschhoek. Madcaps serves most of the schools in the area from pre-school all the way up to Matriculants. When they are in the shop we have huge fun and plenty of laughter.
Madcaps mission is to grow and to continue giving the excellent service we have become known for. Our customers are generally booking for a party and we are of the opinion that their party should start at Madcaps. All of the costumes at Madcaps are cleaned after every hire and checked for any maintenance required before they go back into the shop.
